A new head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been appointed

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had met with First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and offered her to head the government.

According to the president, the new prime minister will have to significantly update the work of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

"We discussed specific measures that will strengthen Ukraine's economic potential, expand support programs for Ukrainians and scale up our own weapons production. To this end, we are launching a transformation of the executive branch in Ukraine. I have invited Yulia Svyrydenko to head the Government of Ukraine and to significantly upgrade its work. I expect the new government's action program to be presented in the near future," the President said.

Yulia Svyrydenko is a native of Chernihiv.<span>She began her career in public service in 2015 as an advisor to the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration. In August of the same year, she headed the Department of Economic Development, and in 2017 she became the first deputy head of the regional state administration, temporarily acting as the head of the region.</span>

<span>In 2019, Svyrydenko joined the Ministry of Economy as a deputy minister, and in 2020 she became the first deputy. She was responsible for labor, employment, industry and pricing policy.</span>

<span>In December 2020, she moved to the Office of the President, where she became Deputy Head of the Office, and was in charge of economic issues and investor relations. At the same time, she headed the Business Promotion Council established by President Zelenskyy.</span>

<span>On November 4, 2021, she was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.</span>

<span>The government is currently headed by Denys Shmyhal, who has been Prime Minister since March 4, 2020. </span>
