Mykolaiv allocated 30 million from the budget for waste disposal and over 800 thousand for environmental protection.
This is evidenced by the city's draft budget for 2025.
As part of the Waste Management budget program, UAH 30 million has been allocated from the general fund of the city budget for the implementation of measures to reform and develop the housing and communal services of Mykolaiv for 2025-2029.
These funds will be allocated to the Department of Housing and Communal Services for the construction and operation of a construction waste treatment site. The work will be carried out by the utility company ELU Avtodorog. Compared to 2024, funding has doubled, by UAH 14.675 million.

Six sites have been identified for temporary storage of waste from the destruction after the Russian attacks in Mykolaiv region.
These sites will be set up in Mykolaiv, Snihurivka, Novobuzka and Pryvilne communities. This year, such a place was also identified in the Shevchenkivska community. In July 2024, the communities reported generating 5,938 tons of waste.
Mykolaiv also approved the procedure for the tender for the construction of a waste sorting station. Once the sorting line is built, the amount of waste will be reduced by up to 30 percent. The residues that cannot be sorted will be buried at a local landfill.
In October, Mykolaiv received almost half a million hryvnias worth of modern equipment to deal with the waste from the shelling. The equipment was provided by the U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The city also expects to receive two crushing systems and another truck.
