Russian shelling in Kherson region killed three people and injured children. Three multi-storey buildings and five private houses in the region's communities were severely damaged.
This was reported by Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Military District Administration.
Kherson region was again under massive attacks by Russian troops. The occupiers used drones, aircraft and artillery, shelling both frontline communities and settlements inland.
The attacks hit 30 settlements, including Antonivka, Komyshany, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Novovorontsovka and Kherson.
The enemy targeted critical and social infrastructure, as well as residential areas. The shelling damaged three multi-storey buildings and nine private homes. A catering establishment, a workshop, a gas pipe and several private cars were also destroyed.
Three civilians died as a result of Russian aggression. Ten more people sustained injuries of varying severity, including two children. Law enforcement and rescue services are documenting the consequences of the attacks and providing assistance to the victims.
On the night of January 7, five local residents sustained injuries of varying severity due to Russian shelling. The destruction of housing was also recorded: three multi-story buildings and five private houses in the communities of the region were seriously damaged.
During the first day of 2026, Russian troops fired more than 360 times in the region, using artillery and rocket launchers. Over the past year, the occupiers fired more than 234 thousand shells at the region's settlements.
Due to the constant threat to the lives of residents, systematic evacuations are underway in the Kherson region: since the de-occupation of the right bank, more than 51,000 people have been evacuated, including more than 7,000 children and more than 550 people with limited mobility. Currently, the mandatory evacuation covers 50 settlements that regularly come under fire.
