The SBU attacked an airfield in Crimea and destroyed seven aircraft

Drone strikes on military targets in the temporarily occupied Crimea are becoming increasingly frequent and devastating for the Russian army. This time, two key air bases—from which the occupiers regularly launch attacks on Ukrainian cities—were targeted.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported a special operation involving drones, during which strikes were carried out on the “Saki” and “Gvardeyskoye” military airfields in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

According to the security service, the operation took place as part of a 40-day campaign to reduce Russia’s military capabilities, carried out on the orders of the President of Ukraine.

According to the SBU, the Saki military airfield sustained the heaviest losses. There, drones struck seven hangars where aircraft were stored. Specifically, these included Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and front-line bombers. According to preliminary data, at least seven combat aircraft were destroyed or damaged. The security service emphasized that this is already the second attack on the Saki airfield this week.

At the same time, the “Gvardeyskoye” military airfield was also struck. Two hangars there were hit, where Russian troops stored attack drones and aviation equipment.

The SBU noted that both air bases are among the most important military facilities of the occupying forces in Crimea. It is from these bases that tactical aircraft regularly take off to launch missile and air strikes on Ukrainian territory, as well as to support Russian military operations in the southern sector.

SBU Head Yevhen Khmara stated that the security service will continue to work systematically to weaken Russia’s military capabilities.

According to him, each such special operation deprives the occupiers of aircraft, equipment, warehouses, logistics, and other infrastructure necessary for waging war. He also emphasized that the SBU will continue to strike both targets on the front lines and deep within enemy territory to limit the enemy’s ability to wage war against Ukraine as much as possible.

The night in the temporarily occupied Crimea was also marked by explosions and large-scale fires. According to the monitoring group, fires in energy infrastructure were recorded in several districts at once, and local residents reported power outages.
