The number of public beaches in Odesa has increased

The number of beaches in Odesa where people are allowed to relax has risen to 35 following the opening of eight new ones.

This was reported by the press office of the Odesa City Hall.

The new beach areas that have received certificates of readiness are: 

• "Langeron": two sections of the "Pier No. 1" complex and a section in the Zhovtyi Kamen area; 
• "Otrada": the "LEO" and "MOON" beach complexes;
• "Arkadia": the "Ibiza" beach complex;
• 11th Station of the Great Fountain: the “COCOS BEACH” beach complex;
• "Kurortny" Beach: the "Ikra" beach complex.

According to city hall, there are a total of 48 beaches in Odesa. Earlier, city hall announced that the family of Daria Kravchenko, a Kyiv resident who died in Odesa, would receive financial assistance from the city budget. The decision was announced by Igor Koval, acting mayor of Odesa, during a meeting of the Odesa City Council’s executive committee.

On the afternoon of June 23,26-year-old Daria Kravchenko died at one of the city’s beaches. Her partner stated his intention to seek punishment for all those involved in the tragedy. The beach was operating despite not having the required safety certificates. In other words, it was officially closed.

 In May, Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional State Administration,signed an order to inspect the region’sbeaches ahead of the upcoming tourist season. At the time, the head of the Regional State Administration stated that more beaches were planned to open this year than last year. 

In November 2025, the “Rules forthe Equipment and Operation of Beaches” established by the OdessaCity Council became obsolete due to changes in legislation—the Law of Ukraine “On the Lease of State and Municipal Property” no longer permitted beaches to be leased as public amenities or hydraulic structures, as had been done under the city administration’s 2007 regulations. At that time, 30 lawsuits filed by the prosecutor’s office seeking to terminate beach lease agreements were pending in court. In 2025, more than two dozen beach areas for swimming and recreation were officially opened in Odesa. All of them passed safety inspections in accordance with wartime requirements.
