The Chongar Bridge in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region has sustained critical damage following recent strikes and is currently completely impassable to traffic. As a result, Russian troops are forced to reroute their supply lines through occupied Crimea.
This was reported on the air of "Suspilne. Studio" by Dmytro "Perun" Filatov, commander of the First Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsyubailo.
According to him, the damage to the Chongar Bridge is so severe that neither trucks nor passenger cars can currently use it. Extensive repair work is needed to restore the crossing.
Following the strikes, the occupiers began deploying pontoon bridges and rerouted part of their logistics through Armiansk. However, according to the military official, this route is also under the control of Ukrainian forces.
Filatov said that after the Chongar Bridge was damaged, Russian troops concentrated a significant number of trucks carrying fuel and ammunition on an alternative route through Armiansk.
"Today, this movement was completely stopped. We carried out another operation. Because the Chongar Bridge was damaged, the enemy concentrated a large number of trucks carrying military cargo that were moving specifically through Armiansk. We managed to hit the trucks carrying fuel and ammunition. There were about 50 vehicles, and some of them were destroyed," the commander reported.
According to him, the "Epicenter of Multidomain Operations" command center, established jointly with the 475th Assault Regiment and incorporating cyber intelligence, enables the successful conduct of such operations.
The military official noted that the decision to strike the Chongar Bridge was made after receiving information about Russian troops’ plans to use it for fuel supply. Only six hours passed between the decision and the execution of the operation.
Filatov emphasized that strikes on logistics routes not only have an immediate effect but also create long-term problems for the Russian army, which is forced to spend additional resources on restoring transport infrastructure and finding new supply routes.
Recently, the occupying administrator of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, reported attacks by Ukrainian drones on the Chongar Bridge. Due to the damage, traffic across the bridge was blocked on June 7 and 9. Also, on June 10, the occupiers closed the bridge from Henichesk to the Arabat Spit, which was used as one of the alternative routes to occupied Crimea.
In addition, several bridges and crossings connecting the occupied part of the Kherson region with Crimea were struck overnight in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.
