The Kyiv District Court of Odesa has imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on three employees of territorial centers for recruitment and social support suspected of illegal imprisonment and extortion.
This was reported by the court's press service.
According to the investigation, a few days ago, during mobilization activities in the Kyiv district of Odesa, three employees of the territorial recruitment center, together with a representative of a public organization, illegally deprived a man of his liberty.
Using physical coercion, they put the victim in a bus and drove him around the city for about an hour. At the same time, the suspects extorted $6,000 from the man for resolving the issue and not taking him to the recruitment center.
In July 2024, the Center for Public Investigations made a movie "Guarding the Odesa C auldron" about community groups. It combined three text-based investigations about more than 30 civil society organizations, including the NGO Ukraine is a Mother:
Already in September 2024, after an investigation by the CPR, prosecutors exposed the deputy head of the "Law Enforcement Assistance Unit" for corruption. He is suspected of helping to evade the mobilization of persons liable for military service.
Having considered the law enforcement motion, the investigating judge granted it. Pre-trial restraints in the form of detention without the alternative of bail were imposed on all four suspects.
SBU officers detained in Odesa military officers of the alert group of the territorial center of manning and social support on suspicion of illegal deprivation of liberty and extortion.
