The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained in Odesa the military of the alert group of the territorial center for manning and social support on suspicion of illegal imprisonment and extortion.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the agency, on the evening of January 15, prosecutors, together with SBU officers, exposed three employees of the district territorial center for recruitment and social support, as well as a member of a public organization, for extortion.

According to the investigation, during mobilization activities in the Kyiv district of Odesa, they unlawfully deprived a man of his liberty and put him on a bus. Using physical coercion, they drove him around the city for about an hour. During this, they demanded 6 thousand US dollars from him for not bringing him to the district TCC.

The Odesa regional TCC stated that they were cooperating with the investigation.

In July 2024, the Center for Public Investigations made a film "Guarding the Odesa Cauldron " about community groups. It combined three textual investigations about more than 30 civil society organizations, including the NGO "Ukraine is a Mother":

Already in September 2024, after an investigation by the CPR, prosecutors exposed the deputy head of the "Law Enforcement Assistance Unit" for corruption. He is suspected of helping to evade the mobilization of persons liable for military service.

Earlier, in Odesa region, the case of a district military commissariat officer and two law enforcement officers suspected of a corruption scheme involving military registration was brought to court. According to the investigation, in exchange for money, they promised to exclude persons liable for military service from the search database.

Prosecutors of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region submitted an indictment to the court against an officer of the Bolhradskyi District Military Commissariat and JV and two law enforcement officers. The investigation believes that in exchange for money, they helped persons liable for military service to be removed from the Oberig database.
