Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region have completed a pre-trial investigation into tax evasion by a company engaged in the export of agricultural products.

According to the SBI, law enforcement officers found that officials of the company, which specializes in the wholesale trade of grain, seeds and animal feed, intentionally failed to declare income from the sale of 16,000 tons of wheat and 40,000 tons of soybeans in 2024.

The products worth almost UAH 660 million were exported by sea through one of the ports of Odesa region to Egypt and Turkey.

"During the investigation, the detectives found that the actual volume of products sold and the real income of the company were much higher than indicated in the financial documentation. The company caused losses to the state budget in the amount of almost UAH 119 million, which is money in particularly large amounts," said Serhii Muntyan, Head of the BES in Odesa region.

Currently, the company's officials have been served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the fact of intentional tax evasion.

During the pre-trial investigation, the exporter reimbursed the state budget for the losses incurred in the amount of UAH 119 million. The criminal proceedings were sent to court with an indictment.

Earlier, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region sent to court an indictment against two officials of a construction company accused of failing to pay value added tax to the state budget in the amount of more than UAH 85 million.
