Soldier of the 122nd Odesa Brigade of the TRO accuses Trukhanov of refusing to help the unit

Soldier Arsen Tsymbalyuk accused Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov of refusing to allocate funds to help the brigade at its request.

In particular, he mentioned that the mayor did not provide a subvention of UAH 20 million for the purchase of drones and electronic warfare devices, which the brigade requested in March.

"The military of the 122nd Brigade of the TRO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have repeatedly appealed to the mayor of Kyiv, Hennadiy Trukhanov, with an official request to allocate funds for the defense of the city. However, the mayor ignored the request because he allegedly had "no money" and came to the conference on the restoration of Ukraine wearing sneakers for 78 thousand hryvnias," the military said.

He reminded that the 122nd Territorial Defense Brigade consists of six battalions, most of which are fighting in all directions and some of which are guarding Odesa and Odesa region. The brigade consists of residents of Odesa and the region.

The military also recalled the recent story of the detention of two officials of municipal enterprises of the Odesa City Council on suspicion of fictitiously booking citizens and misappropriating budget funds. After that, Hennadiy Trukhanov himself instructed his deputies, heads of district administrations, as well as the Department of Mobilization and the head of the Department for the Prevention of Corruption to conduct checks of the booked employees of critical infrastructure enterprises of the Odesa City Council to ensure that they were performing their duties properly.

The soldier asked Hennadiy Trukhanov why he would not go to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression himself.

In late June, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov found himself at the center of another scandal over a monument to Russian poet Alexander Pushkin on Primorsky Boulevard in Odesa. In particular, the mayor, in response to the question of why the monument had not been removed in the city, asked a former journalist, a soldier of the 122nd Brigade, Myroslav Otkovych, why he was not in a trench.
