The Ukrainian-French duo of Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils lost their match to advance to the US Open final, falling to the pair of Swiss player Belinda Bencic and Italian Flavio Cobolli.

Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils, who have been married since 2021, played together in mixed doubles at this level for the first time. “I mean, we train together quite a lot at home or at tournaments. Just yesterday, we worked on a few things for doubles,” the tennis player said.

Svitolina also became the second Ukrainian woman to reach this stage in mixed doubles at the US Open, following Dayana Yastremska in 2021.

Next, Svitolina and Monfils will compete in the singles competition at the Grand Slam.
