The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated almost a billion hryvnias for the construction of shelters in preschool education institutions in frontline communities.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, it is more than UAH 972 million for 18 projects in different regions of the country.

"The projects are being implemented in 9 regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson," the statement says.

Priority was given to communities with higher security risks, in particular in the frontline regions, as well as to facilities where construction has already begun.

According to the Ministry of Education, the availability of equipped shelters in preschool education institutions will ensure the organization of full-time and distance learning in compliance with security requirements.

Earlier, a commission was set up in Mykolaiv to check the possibility of creating shelters in the city's out-of-school institutions. The main purpose of the inspection is to determine whether these premises meet the requirements for use as shelters.

The educational system in Mykolaiv, in particular, has been operating under martial law for three years now, providing education, psychological support, child safety and the development of the material and technical base of schools and kindergartens. As part of measures to improve security in educational institutions, 53 shelters have been repaired: 22 in kindergartens and 31 in schools, and work is underway to equip another 26 institutions.

In Kherson region, safety classes are being opened - learning spaces equipped with a variety of interactive materials, training equipment, and samples of rescue equipment. So students can not only study safety rules theoretically, but also practically learn how to act in emergency situations.
