If you’re still trying to attract new customers with clickbait headlines, cookie-cutter posts, or endless spam emails—we’ve got news for you. By 2026, these methods don’t just not work—they’ve become outright anti-trends. And they’re not the only ones.
Experts note that competition has become more sophisticated, and the audience has become more discerning. People today are tired—not of the sheer volume of information in their feeds, but of its utter predictability.
We spoke with marketers and brand strategists at the Lviv-based marketing agency Digital Space and found out which promotional tactics no longer attract customers but merely waste the budget and annoy the audience.
The main problem with modern marketing is predictability!” note the SMM specialists at Digital Space. “Repetitive mechanics, cookie-cutter texts, and intrusive calls to action leave users with only one desire—to scroll past the post.”
Social media algorithms themselves have changed. By 2026, they will no longer reward high posting frequency. The priority is the quality of engagement: watching videos to the end, saving to bookmarks, live reposts, and thoughtful comments.
In 2026, the brands that will succeed are those that have stopped “chasing reach” and have begun to focus on meaningful precision. The era of media noise has given way to in-depth analytics, contextual understanding, and hyper-personalization, where communication strategies are tailored to specific individuals rather than vague segments.
Advice from the experts at Digital Space: move away from broadly targeted ads and cold email campaigns. Shift toward pre-engagement and personalized offers.
Neural networks have become a staple tool for marketers, but their misuse has become a major irritant. As the SEO specialists at Digital Space point out, modern users instantly pick up on impersonal tones, repetitive sentence structures, and the “plastic” style of neural networks. So publishing AI-generated text without rigorous editing is a surefire way to undermine trust in the brand.
“Use AI for routine tasks, but keep the brand’s authentic voice and content from real people in your communications.”
There has also long been a myth in the market that “email is dead.” But no, it turns out it’s alive and more effective than ever—it’s just that the approach has changed:
The anti-trend is sending a hundred emails in three days just to make a single sale. “Burning through your list for the sake of a temporary conversion is a path to ruin,” say the marketers at Digital Space. “The trend is to focus on the customer’s lifetime value (LTV).” If you come across as friendly on social media but send dry messages via email, your subscribers won’t forgive you.
The content creators at Digital Space Lviv advise that if you see these tactics in this month’s content plan, cross them out without hesitation:
Marketers who are seeing the best results this year are focusing on microblogs, since their audience trusts them more. And then there’s humanity and post-purchase care—repeat sales today happen only because of loyalty, not endless discounts.
And finally, a paradoxical but crucial conclusion from a survey of experts at the Lviv coworking space Digital Space: the main anti-trend is following other people’s advice regardless of results and analytics. If something is generating revenue—don’t be quick to give it up!
