The Security Service of Ukraine Office in Odesa Oblast and the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast have stated that they do not have information about who in these agencies uses Toyota Camry cars that caused the scandal in February 2026.
This was reported by journalist Oksana Pidnesna with reference to the responses provided by these institutions to her request.
"I made inquiries to the police of Odesa Oblast and the Security Service of Ukraine: who uses the Toyotas purchased at the expense of communities after the order of the regional council? Guess what the answer was?" she said.
The SBU and the police replied that they were not the information administrators, so they could not provide an answer.
On February 27, 2026, the Odesa Regional Council decided to transfer the car from the Fontanska community to the Security Service of Ukraine. At least that's what council member Dmytro Kovbasyuk said .
Prior to that, the former head of the Odesa District Council, Vitaliy Barvinenko , said that he had prepared a statement to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine regarding the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, and the head of the Odesa Regional Council, Hryhoriy Didenko.
It was about two Toyota Camry Prestige cars purchased for UAH 1.7 and 1.8 million by Podilska and Fontanska communities in the region. Vitaliy Barvinenko said that in this way, the heads of regional authorities received kickbacks from the communities for the distributed funds from the regional budget.
The information about the transfer of these cars to the regional administration was confirmed to journalists by the acting head of the Fontansky village council, Andriy Serebriy, who noted that the Odesa regional council had asked for the car. However, he noted that the car was purchased for the regional council after a letter with such a request came from them.
At the same time, Dmytro Kovbasyuk noted that not only Podilska or Fontanska communities received requests to purchase cars.
