In September 2022, two suspected women participated in the work of the so-called "election commissions" in Kherson and Velyka Kardashyntsi.

This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Kherson region.

The occupation "election commissions" in which the women worked were created by the occupation authorities to hold a pseudo-referendum on secession from Ukraine and accession to Russia of the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. As members of the illegally created commissions, the suspects went to the homes of local residents, urged them to vote in favor of the aggressor country and issued "ballots".

Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional and Skadovsk District Prosecutor's Offices, the women were served in absentia notices of suspicion of collaboration.

Earlier, the SBU in Kherson region exposed a collaborator who helped to organize a fake referendum in southern Ukraine. The former saleswoman from the right bank of Kherson region, according to the investigation, was engaged in the preparation of pseudo-referendums on the "accession" of the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine to Russia. After the liberation of the right bank of the region, the woman fled to Khmelnytsky region, where she was hiding from justice under the guise of an IDP. However, SBU officers tracked her down and served her with a notice of suspicion.

The SBU also served suspicion notices of aiding the occupiers to two other residents of Kherson region. Both suspects face up to 12 years in prison and confiscation of property. In addition, the Security Service documented the illegal activities of two more residents of Kherson region who voluntarily cooperated with the invaders. For cooperation with the enemy, they face terms of 10 years and 15 years in prison and confiscation of property.
