Olena Buynevych, Director of the Department of Education, denied rumors about the possible construction of a kindergarten in Kyiv district that was damaged as a result of the Russian attack.

This became known during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Education, Sports and Cooperation with Public Organizations.

The official assured that the area where the kindergarten is located will remain an educational zone. According to her, the building is currently undergoing an examination to determine whether it can be strengthened or whether the kindergarten will have to be completely rebuilt.

"We are waiting for the conclusions of the examination. We are now deciding whether the building can be repaired or whether it will have to be rebuilt completely," explained Buynevych.

At the next session of the city council, it is planned to allocate additional UAH 11 million to eliminate the consequences of shelling in educational institutions in Odesa.

Earlier, rumors were spreading among local residents about the possible development of the territory after the demolition of the kindergarten. However, the Department of Education emphasized that the land assigned to the educational institution cannot be used for any other purpose.

"This is not true, it is someone's fantasy. We are currently working on securing the land plot, and where the land is allocated for education, there can be nothing else," the director of the Odesa department emphasized.

As a result of a drone attack on Odesa by the Russian Federation on the night of February 19, kindergarten No. 283, located in the Kyiv district of Odesa, was damaged. According to the mayor's office, 50 children were studying there. They have now been transferred to the nearest institutions.

Another kindergarten in the village of Nova Dofinivka in the Fontanska community of Odesa region was also severely damaged by a Russian air attack on the night of March 17. Interestingly, it was only in December that the construction of a shelter in this kindergarten was completed and the children were able to attend.
