The Mykolaiv-Kherson highway is under constant shelling by Russian troops. Despite the protective nets that have been installed on the road, the occupiers continue to attack civilian vehicles, using FPV drones in particular. Currently, officials in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions are working together to restore an alternative road.

This was announced by Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, during a live telethon.

It is known that documents for the restoration of the additional road have already been submitted. The project is planned to be implemented with funding from the reserve fund after approval from the relevant ministries.

The situation on the Kherson highway escalated back in July 2025, when the Russians began actively attacking it with various types of drones. In August, this even led to a temporary blocking of traffic on this section in case of detection of enemy drones.

Earlier, traffic on the Kherson-Mykolaiv highway was restricted due to attacks by Russian drones. Local residents were urged to refrain from traveling along this route. According to Prokudin, since August 25, there has been high activity of Russian drones on the M-14 Kherson-Mykolaiv highway. The enemy is deliberately attacking civilian transport, so the authorities are urging citizens not to use this route unless necessary.

The press service of the Kherson Regional State Administration also shared that on the morning of August 26, Russian troops attacked a car on the highway between the villages of Klapaya and Chornobaivka. The attack injured two medical workers - a 47-year-old medical director and a 38-year-old doctor. They received blast injuries, but managed to get to the hospital on their own, where they received the necessary assistance.
