Odesa Instructor Arrested for 20K Bribe to Evade Mobilization

Law enforcement officers detained an instructor of one of the district training centers in Odesa region on a bribe of 20 thousand hryvnias. The military man faces up to 8 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the regional police.

According to law enforcement, he initially demanded 50 thousand hryvnias from a man he was accompanying during the processing of military registration documents. In exchange for this money, the official promised to influence the decision of his colleagues so that the citizen would receive a deferral from mobilization and move freely around the country.

However, he later reduced the amount to 20 thousand hryvnias.

On February 19, the suspect was detained red-handed while receiving the money. The seized funds were attached to the criminal proceedings as material evidence.

The man was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Abuse of influence). He faces 3 to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided.

Last week in Odesa region, police exposed a serviceman who organized the illegal transportation of men across the state border of Ukraine. The man was caught while transporting six men to Transnistria who intended to illegally leave the country.

Prior to that, police detained another RTCC and JV employee in Odesa region. He extorted money from a man of military age for issuing a summons with a validity period of six days, which allowed the holder to move freely within the territory of Ukraine during this period.

The law enforcement also detained a serviceman of the district territorial center of manning and social support in Odesa who received a bribe for removing a client from the wanted list.
