Police detained an employee of the district territorial center for recruitment and social support in Odesa region on suspicion of bribery.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, he demanded money from a man of military age for issuing a six-day summons that allowed the holder to move freely within the territory of Ukraine during this period.

The military man wanted $1,000 for the document, and later raised the price by another 2,000 hryvnias. With the expiration of the document, the offender promised to issue new ones for a similar fee.

The police procedurally detained the dealer after he received the full amount of the bribe and handed over the summons to the client and seized part of the money received by the serviceman in an illegal way, his cell phone, the summons issued for the client, and other items of interest to the investigation.

Based on the evidence collected, the suspect was served a notice of suspicion under Article 368 (3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - extortion and receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official for performing any action in the interests of a third party using his or her official position. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.

The court imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 242,240.

Meanwhile, the police registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations information about the beating of the son of journalist Viktoria Koltunova in Odesa.

Instead, patrol police officers tried to detain the man, but failed due to the resistance of others. During the check of his documents, the inspectors found that the 40-year-old man was wanted under Article 210 (Violation of the rules of military registration by conscripts, persons liable for military service, reservists) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
