Odesa Serviceman Arrested for Organizing Illegal Border Transport

In Odesa region, police exposed a serviceman who was organizing the illegal transportation of men across the state border of Ukraine.

According to the press service of the National Police of the region, the man was caught while transporting six men to Transnistria who intended to illegally leave the country.

During the inspection, law enforcement officers found that the driver, a serviceman of the TCC and JV, charged from 5 to 8 thousand dollars for transportation services, depending on the financial capabilities of the clients.

According to law enforcement, he worked in collusion with an unidentified person who was looking for potential clients for the scheme. During the detention, the car was seized from him, and the passengers were sent to the relevant authorities for verification.

The man was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries up to nine years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property. The court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 240,000, which he did not use.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the full range of people involved in this crime.

Recently, police detained another employee of the RCCC and JV in Odesa region. He extorted money from a man of military age for issuing a summons with a validity period of six days, which allowed the holder to move freely within the territory of Ukraine during this period.

Earlier, law enforcement officers detained a serviceman of the district territorial center for manning and social support in Odesa who received a bribe for removing a client from the wanted list.
