Odesa court sentences Luhansk native to eight years in prison for serving terrorists

The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found a native of Khrustalnyi, Luhansk region, guilty of participating in a terrorist organization and sentenced him to eight years in prison without confiscation of property.

According to the court's verdict, in April-June 2015, the convict participated in the terrorist organization "Donetsk People's Republic" and fought as part of the "Cossack National Guard of the Great Don Army," according to Court Reporter.

The accused was in charge of logistics. He was responsible for the technical condition and maintenance of the Cossacks' vehicle fleet.

He was also engaged in fuel delivery. On March 19, 2022, officers of the SBU Office in Odesa region conducted a search at his place of residence and seized more than a kilogram of hexogen explosive.

The trial lasted from May 2022. Eventually, the defendant entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor.

On March 19, 2022, the SBU also detained a native of Odesa region, who was recruited by a militant of the L/DNR terrorist organization last May. He was serving the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa region. The offender sent data to the enemy through a specially created Telegram channel. During an authorized search at the suspect's place of residence, law enforcement officers seized various military communications equipment and more than half a kilogram of hexogen explosive.

The next day, members of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) detained two men, natives of the Russian Federation, who were photographing the positions of the Ukrainian military in Odesa region. One of the detainees was born in the Chuguevsky district of Primorsky Krai, the other in Kaliningrad, and a journalist's press card was found during the search.
