National Guardsman from Mykolaiv region posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine

The fallen soldier from Mykolaiv region was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. He saved the lives of more than 50 people, including children.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Yevhen Kozlov, a native of Mykolaiv region, a National Guard officer.

On February 25, 2022, Yevhen Kozlov showed heroism by being the first to spot a Russian convoy near Triokhizbenka in the Luhansk region. He destroyed two tanks and eliminated 10 occupants. During one of the battles, Yevhen was taken prisoner, but he was released on April 2 of the same year. After treatment and rehabilitation, the fighter returned to duty at the front.

In addition to his military exploits, the National Guard member managed to evacuate about 50 civilians, including 11 children, from the bomb shelters of Siverskodonetsk. His life was cut short on August 18, 2022, when the enemy fired on the position where the hero was.

Yevhen Kozlov left behind not only the memory of unbreakable courage, but also an example of sacrifice and strength of spirit for future generations.

Recently, in the Snihuriv community of Mykolaiv region, the only son of the fallen junior sergeant Artem Vanin, Tymofii, received the Order for Courage, III class, which was posthumously awarded to his father. The defender was killed in action on December 31, 2022, in eastern Ukraine, near the village of Chervonopopivka, Luhansk region.

Vyacheslav Snitsarev, a resident of Pivdenoukrainsk, also received one of Ukraine's highest military awards, the Cross of the Brave. The award was presented to the operator of unmanned aerial vehicles of the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Earlier, Senior Seaman Pavlo Malofeyenko from the 36th Separate Marine Brigade in Mykolaiv was also posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. The soldier was killed on January 30, 2023, while performing a combat mission. He was awarded the Order of the Golden Star for personal courage and heroism in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people.
