Sculptor Mykhailo Reva was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the Odesa Region." The award ceremony took place during a conference marking the 30th anniversary of the Boris Litvak Children’s Rehabilitation Center, whose facade is adorned with the artist’s famous “Golden Angel” sculpture.

This was reportedby the press service of the Odesa City Council.

The decision to award the title was made by members of the regional council, who recognized the sculptor’s significant personal contribution to the region’s social and cultural development and his many years of creative work.

Mykhailo Reva is a Ukrainian sculptor, architect, and Honored Artist of Ukraine, whose creative work is closely tied to Odesa. He is the creator of many iconic city sculptures, including the famous “Golden Angel” on the facade of the Boris Litvak Children’s Rehabilitation Center and the “12th Chair” monument.

The sculptor is also the creator of such iconic landmarks in Odesa as the bronze doors of the “House of the Sun” on Lanzheron, the park sculpture “Odesa Time,” and the “Beginning of Beginnings” fountain in Greek Park, the “Tree of Love” in the City Garden, and the “Spring” fountain near the Vorontsov Palace. The artist also created the tombstone for Bohdan Stupka at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv, and after the start of the full-scale invasion, he launched a series of reflective art objects created from fragments of Russian missiles and shells collected on the front lines.

Last year, an exhibitionby Mykhailo Revatitled “Diaries of Time” took place in Odesa. It featured drawings, paintings, and sculptures that convey the artist’s emotions, experiences, and reflections on current events. Many of the works are closely tied to the war. Through his art, the artist explores the pain, struggle, and strength of spirit of the Ukrainian people.

A distinctive featureof the exhibitionwas the use of actual fragments of rockets, mines, and shells, which the artist transformed into symbolic images. In his paintings, one can see not only darkness and destruction, but also hope, light, and an unbreakable spirit.

In early September 2023, the Odessa Art Museum presented an exhibition of the artist’s work, in which, through his project “Exploring Evil,” he depicts the Russian world of death and destruction.

In February 2024, the artist’s sculptures from the project were exhibited in Paris. Using military equipment, Reva created a massive Russian bear titled “Moloch, the Beast of War,” and from spent shell casings, he created “Russian Souvenir,” a matryoshka weighing 1,200 pounds.
