The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has published a national ranking of sports institutions for 2024. The schools were evaluated based on the achievements of their athletes at international and national competitions.

According to the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council, two Mykolaiv schools were included in the top ten specialized children's and youth sports schools of the Olympic reserve:
Cycling School - 4th place
Fencing School - 9th place

The sports school for athletics is also ranked 34th among 119 sports schools in the country.

Among 121 children's and youth sports schools, the city's martial arts school is ranked 25th.

In Mykolaiv, the city increased bonuses for athletes, decided to popularize physical culture among the population, and introduced mechanisms for sports rehabilitation for children and adults with special needs.

Recently, Mykolaiv decided to make one-time cash payments to athletes from municipal sports schools who achieved high results in national and international competitions in the second half of 2024. We also plan to significantly increase the bonus fund for gifted athletes. Previously, this fund amounted to about one million hryvnias, but now its size will increase to almost two million.

More than UAH 189 million has been allocated for sports development in 2025. These funds will be used to build shelters in sports facilities, reconstruct facilities, create a new sports town, organize competitions and popularize sports among Mykolaiv residents. The new initiatives will help develop the city's sports infrastructure and support the achievements of local athletes.
