Mykolaiv's 2025-2027 Program for Comprehensive Veteran Support

The Mykolaiv region has considered a comprehensive program of social support for war veterans and their families for 2025-2027. This program is aimed at facilitating the process of veterans' adaptation to civilian life and honoring their heroism.

The decision was considered at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Healthcare, Maternity, Childhood, Protection of the Rights of ATO/JFO Participants and Veterans and Their Families, and Gender Equality.

The goal of the program is to provide veterans and their families with comprehensive support in various areas of life, including access to medical, educational and social services. The program, developed with the participation of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration and the Regional Council, covers 10 main areas:

  1. Social support: providing financial assistance and organizing support measures for war veterans and their families.
  2. Educational assistance: access to education for veterans and their families, including training for civilian professions.
  3. Health care: providing veterans with medical services, including trauma and post-traumatic disorders.
  4. Cultural integration: involving veterans in cultural and civic initiatives, supporting active civic life.
  5. Commemoration: organizing events to honor the heroism and memory of fallen defenders.
  6. Support in the transition to civilian life: assistance in finding a job and adapting to new living conditions.
  7. Outreach: organizing events to inform veterans about their rights and available services.
  8. Psychological support: providing assistance in the form of trainings and counseling for veterans.
  9. Ensuring the rights of veterans: protecting the rights of veterans in legal and administrative matters.
  10. Organizing injury prevention activities: conducting mine safety trainings and other accident prevention activities.

Special attention will be paid to helping veterans with social and professional adaptation, which includes not only educational courses and trainings, but also cultural and social initiatives. An important aspect of the program is also to honor the memory of fallen defenders and recognize their contribution to the struggle for Ukraine's independence.

Veterans in the region have recently started their own businesses to support their comrades-in-arms. They aim to create new jobs for their former colleagues and provide assistance in difficult life situations. In addition, Mykolaiv has begun creating a network of veterans' spaces to help with the military's adaptation to civilian life.
