In Mykolaiv, residents of a residential complex are raising the alarm about aggressive packs of stray dogs that attack people and pets. Uncontrolled breeding and constant feeding only aggravate the situation, and the authorities' inaction threatens to turn the problem into a critical one.

This became known from the Contact Center at Mykolaiv City Council.

Residents of the Levanevsky residential complex in Mykolaiv are concerned about the growing number of aggressive stray dogs in the complex. According to them, the packs consist of 7 to 15 animals that attack people, children and pets. The situation is complicated by the fact that the dogs are hiding in a closed area, where access is restricted without the permission of the city administration.

Despite the sterilization of part of the pack by the Animal Protection Center, this did not solve the problem. Moreover, after the sterilized dogs were returned, they were poisoned. At the same time, some residents continue to feed the animals, which leads to an increase in their number. This has already caused conflicts between neighbors.

Amid reports of rabies outbreaks in Mykolaiv and the region, the situation may become even more threatening. Residents call on the city authorities to intervene and take drastic measures to solve the problem, as uncontrolled animal reproduction and aggression can have dangerous consequences for the community.

The citizens' appeal has already been registered with the Rapid Response Service at Mykolaiv City Council.

Cases of people being bitten by wild and rabies-infected pets have become more frequent in Mykolaiv and the region. Oleksandra Kupinets, director of the Animal Protection Center, emphasizes that the risk of infection can be reduced by annual vaccination of pets. Last year, 205 cases of dog bites were recorded in Mykolaiv region, which is almost twice as many as in 2022.

In addition, residents of Mykolaiv complain about problems with access to free water: in some locations, tanks remain empty all day, while others are difficult to reach due to ice. The citizens also drew the authorities' attention to a dangerous intersection where accidents regularly occur and suggested installing a traffic light to improve safety. The situation is so critical that sometimes several accidents occur there in a day.
