Ukrainian athlete <b>Igor Tsvetov</b> from Mykolaiv region successfully competed in the T35 class at the World Para Athletics Championships, which brought together more than 1,300 participants in New Delhi, India. The athlete won a bronze medal at a distance of 200 meters.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
This is his first international competition after the 2024 Paralympics. All attention is focused on his next race: Tsvetov will run the 100 meters, where he is the reigning champion.
Earlier, Mykolaiv's swimming para-athlete <b>Anna Hontar</b> won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Singapore. The competition began on September 21 and lasted until September 27.

On the first day of the competition, the athlete showed a result in the 100-meter backstroke. Three other athletes from Mykolaiv region also competed at the championships as part of the Ukrainian national team: <b>Serhii Palamarchuk, Dmytro Vasylenko</b> and <b>Angelina Maltseva</b>. In total, 580 paraswimmers from 75 countries took part in the competition.
As a reminder, Anna is a bronze medalist at the Paralympic Games in Japan, a multiple champion and medalist at the World and European Championships. She is a native of Kherson, but represents Mykolaiv region at the competition.
Meanwhile, a Kherson sambo wrestler won gold at the 2025 World Games. <b>Andriy Kucherenko </b>won the first medal with a score of 6:1 <b>(weight category up to 71 kg). </b>The sambo wrestler defeated Russian sambo wrestler Rolan Zinnatov in a fight as a neutral. Vladyslav Rudnev won the second gold medal: in the final of the 79 kg weight category, he met the same "neutral" Hovhannes Abharyan.
