Mykolaiv Farmers Discuss Pesticide Safety and EU Standards at Online Meeting

At a meeting held as part of the Dialogue between Government and Business platform, Mykolaiv region farmers discussed the safe use of pesticides and bringing agricultural activities in line with European standards. Representatives of government and business emphasized the importance of complying with legislation and jointly solving the industry's problems.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

On March 13, an online meeting was held within the framework of the Dialogue between Government and Business platform to discuss topical issues in the field of plant protection and safe use of pesticides and agrochemicals.

The event was attended by representatives of local governments and more than 70 representatives of the region's agribusinesses.

According to Inna Pankul, Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Development and Regional Policy of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, such meetings help to establish effective communication between government and business, receive feedback and jointly solve problematic issues.

Yaroslav Shydlovskyi, Head of the Phytosanitary Safety Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Mykolaiv Oblast, spoke about the lawmaking component and opportunities for agribusiness. He noted that the main message to business entities during the meeting was to comply with the current legislation in the field of plant protection and the safe use of pesticides and agrochemicals.

Mr.Shydlovsky emphasized the importance of compliance with the legislation on the use of agrochemicals and integration into European agricultural standards.

The participants discussed the key challenges facing the agricultural sector and received recommendations on the safe use of pesticides in accordance with the current legislation.

Recently, entrepreneurs met with local government representatives in Mykolaiv region to discuss energy-efficient solutions for stable business operations in the face of possible power outages.

The participants were looking for effective mechanisms to introduce alternative energy sources, improve the energy efficiency of enterprises, and attract financial support for innovative projects.

At the end of January, Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, paid a working visit to Mykolaiv region. During the trip, they discussed issues important to the region, such as the restoration of irrigation systems, the development of the processing industry, and the need to increase the limits on soft loans to support agricultural businesses.
