Mykolaiv continues to expand its infrastructure for electric vehicles. Another 25 charging stations will appear in the city this spring.

This was announced by Mykola Logvinov, Director of Mykolaivoblteploenergo.

The first 20 of these stations were installed in September last year on the basis of old central heating stations that are no longer in use. According to the official, charging stations are popular among citizens, and the number of electric vehicles in Mykolaiv is constantly growing. This is not a commercial project, as the payback period for the stations is 7-8 years. The main goal is to develop the city's infrastructure.

Owners of private houses can charge their cars at home, but for residents of high-rise buildings it is much more difficult. We want to provide them with such an opportunity within walking distance," said Logvinov.

New electric vehicle stations will be installed in April. The company is financing the work at its own expense. During the installation, the locations are being improved: cleaned, painted, asphalted, and surveillance cameras are being installed to prevent vandalism.

In addition, the company is actively implementing energy-efficient technologies. For example, old heating stations where purified water is dispensed will be equipped with solar panels. A pilot project on Kolodyazna Street has already been successfully implemented. This year, the company plans to install solar panels at 34 more such facilities with the support of international donors.

At the beginning of April last year, Mykola Logvinov announced the company's plan to equip a total of 55 electric vehicle charging points in the city. The company held a tender for the purchase of 20 charging stations for electric vehicles last spring. The expected cost of the purchase was about UAH 1.6 million.

As of today, Mykolaivoblteploenergo has already set up charging stations in 17 locations in the city. All of them are connected to online billing platforms and are available for use.

In June 2024, the deputies approved the Program for the Development of Electric Charging Infrastructure of Mykolaiv City Territorial Community for 2024-2028. The document is aimed at expanding the network of charging stations in the city, popularizing electric transport, reducing the level of harmful emissions in the atmosphere, and reducing Ukraine's energy dependence on imported resources.
