A driver from Mykolaiv region who tried to transport the men was detained while trying to cross the border. In exchange for ten thousand dollars, they tried to follow the advice of a stranger in a telegram.
This was reported by the press service of the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
In Odesa region, border guards detained five men who were trying to illegally cross the border with Moldova. A 22-year-old driver from Mykolaiv region and his four passengers planned to cross the border through Transnistria.
The men used the services of a telegram channel administrator who provided them with instructions on how to cross illegally for $10,000. However, he did not guarantee a successful crossing.
During the attempted border crossing, the car got stuck in the mud. The passengers planned to walk, but the driver left them and ran across the border, hoping to avoid punishment. However, all the violators were detained by border guards of the Podil detachment.
Administrative reports under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses were drawn up against them for attempting to illegally cross the border, and the cases were referred to court.
Also, police in Odesa region detained a man who, in prior conspiracy with unidentified persons, was looking for conscripts for further illegal transportation across the state border of Ukraine for a monetary reward.
In addition, the police announced the results of large-scale searches in 19 regions aimed at combating illegal border crossing. The main suspects were private entrepreneurs who entered false data into the Shlyakh system, as well as people who organized the illegal crossing of a man of military age through official checkpoints.
Earlier, the organizer of the scheme to smuggle men to Romania and Moldova for $12,000 was detained in Mykolaiv. He faces up to 9 years in prison.
