More than 900 damaged facilities: how Mykolaiv helped war victims

In Mykolaiv, the commission inspected more than 900 objects damaged by Russian shelling. Compensation under the Restore program can be received within a month.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The city council's Department of State Architectural and Construction Control has recorded more than 500 damaged houses, 400 apartments, as well as a number of non-residential premises and social facilities over the past year.

Two commissions are currently working to investigate the consequences of the recent shelling in the two districts. The process takes place in two stages: first, the commission inspects the facilities, and then checklists are drawn up for the eRestoration program.

According to Olena Tuova, head of the city council's Department of State Architectural and Construction Control, two commissions were merged into one to speed up the process.

"This allows us to pay out funds in a shorter time, and people can start restoring their property faster," the official said.

" The damaged property is inspected both at the request of residents and on the basis of lists compiled by district administrations. The commission comes to the site on its own to record the damage and offer assistance to the victims.

To start the work, the commission needs to be provided with documents of ownership and a technical passport for the facility. If the owner is absent, the inspection can be conducted with written consent, even via e-mail.

If all the documents are in order, it takes up to one month on average from the inspection to receiving compensation under the eRestoration program.

In order to have a commission examination, citizens need to submit an official application to the department or write an appeal to the official e-mail. Then, they need to undergo a commission inspection of the damaged facilities. This is the main stage for further calculation of compensation.

In October, under the eRestoration program in Mykolaiv, citizens received almost UAH 95 million for damaged or destroyed property as a result of hostilities. Owners of 147 apartments received compensation worth UAH 139.1 million, and owners of 18 private houses received UAH 33.73 million.

The Commission also issued 165 housing certificates and two cash compensations for the construction of houses worth over UAH 2 million.

The payments will allow citizens to repair their homes that were damaged by Russian shelling.
