Military killed: a truck ran into a checkpoint in Odesa region

Two servicemen, aged 34 and 36, were killed in a road accident that occurred on the morning of October 17.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, the incident occurred around seven in the morning on a road near the village of Sukhyi Lyman.

It has been preliminarily established that a 63-year-old truck driver failed to notice a mobile checkpoint and ran over two soldiers. One of the victims died on the spot, the other - in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

The driver's sobriety test showed that he was sober.

The investigative team for road accidents is establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The issue of registering the information in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and detaining the driver in a procedural manner is being resolved.

Traffic is hampered on the road section where the accident occurred.

Earlier, Petro Tverdovsky, a student of the Odesa National Law Academy, died on October 4 as a result of a car accident in Odesa. According to unofficial reports, the boy was the son of the owner of the Ithaca and Paladium clubs.

In September, the daughter of the former mayor of Kiliya, Pavlo Boichenko, Kateryna, died in an accident in Izmail, Odesa region. The tragedy occurred on September 5. Kateryna Boychenko was hit by a 19-year-old BMW driver when she was crossing the road on an unregulated pedestrian crossing. Prior to that, Ihor Plekhov, the mayor of Reni, was involved in an accident between the settlements of Vvedenka and Svitlodolynske in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region. The mayor's SUV went off the road and overturned.
