Daughter of former Kiliya mayor killed in accident

The daughter of the former mayor of Kiliya, Pavlo Boychenko, Kateryna, died as a result of an accident in Izmail, Odesa region.

This information was confirmed by Pavlo Boychenko himself.

"My child... my daughter... I'm sorry I didn't save you, my angel... may you be comfortable in heaven..." he wrote on Facebook.

According to the police, the tragedy occurred on September 5: Kateryna Boychenko was hit by a 19-year-old BMW driver while crossing the road on an unregulated pedestrian crossing.

The driver was not injured. A sobriety test showed that he was sober.

Investigators of the regional police investigation department registered a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. It is a violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by a person driving a vehicle, which caused the death of the victim.

The driver was detained, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided. If found guilty in court, the driver faces imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Earlier, the mayor of Reni, Ihor Plekhov, was involved in an accident between the settlements of Vvedenka and Svitlodolynske in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region. The mayor's SUV went off the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, a 72-year-old woman, the mayor's mother, who was in the passenger seat, was killed. Ihor Plekhov himself and his 5-year-old boy, who was also in the car, were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with multiple injuries.
