Law enforcement officers seized the cannabis, ammunition, and explosives. A cell phone and part of the money the suspect received from selling the narcotic substance were added to the case file. The suspect was notified of charges under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine —Parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 and Part 1 of Article 263. The court imposed a pretrial detention measure on him, with the right to post bail in the amount of 166,400 UAH, which he exercised. In Mykolaiv, a man avoided prison for possessing an arsenal of weapons. The director of a maritime company kept dozens of assault rifles, grenade launchers, and thousands of rounds of ammunition in his home. On October 3, 2023, law enforcement officers conducted a search of his apartment. During the search, police seized all the automatic rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, grenades, and ammunition they found. The man was detained immediately after the search. In court, the defendant fully admitted his guilt, confirmed that he had illegally acquired and stored the arsenal, and stated that he sincerely regretted his actions. The court took into account that the man had no prior convictions, was well-regarded, and had received commendations from military units. In addition, the pretrial report indicated a low likelihood of reoffending. Therefore, the court found the director guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison, but suspended the sentence with a one-year probationary period. If, during this time, the man does not commit any new crimes and fulfills the obligations set by the court, he will not go to prison.
