Kherson resident, who helped Russians torture people during the occupation, was served with a notice of suspicion of treason

In 2022, 33-year-old Andrii Kuzko, a resident of the village of Nova Zburyivka in the Holoprystan urban community of the Skadovsk district of Kherson region, took a position in the occupation "state security service". He abducted and tortured civilians.

According to the Center for Investigative Journalism,<span>SBU investigators found that </span> <span>in the summer of 2022 </span>, Kuzko <span>voluntarily joined the department of counterintelligence protection in the field of economic security of the illegally created by the Russian invaders "State Security Service of the Kherson Region" - a local clone of the Russian Federal Security Service. At the end of </span>August 2022, Andriy Kuzko, together with other representatives of the occupation authorities, kidnapped a man, beat him and illegally imprisoned him in a torture chamber at 15 Pylyp Orlyk Street. The victim was held there for over a month without any grounds.

"On September 4, 2022, Kuzko tortured this man and forced him to record a video message with a "sincere confession" to crimes he did not commit," the prosecutor's office quoted the suspicion to the CJR.

On September 28, 2022, the victim was transported to a barn in the village of Pryozerne, Kherson city community, where the Russian occupiers illegally detained him for more than a month.

For the crimes committed, Andriy Kuzko was notified in absentia of suspicion of treason, violation of the laws and customs of war and participation in the activities of an armed group not provided for by law. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, law enforcement officers submitted to court an indictment against a Ukrainian citizen on charges of cruelty to civilians. In the summer of 2022, a resident of Donetsk region, she performed combat missions as a member of the illegal armed group "DNR" and participated in repressions in the occupied territories of Kherson region.
