A Ukrainian citizen will be tried for treason and torture of civilians in Kherson region. She acted together with the Russian military during the occupation.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

A woman who fought in an illegal DNR formation and tortured civilians in the Kherson region will be tried for treason and cruelty to civilians. Together with the Russian military, she intimidated families, used violence and illegally detained people during the occupation.

According to the investigation, in the summer of 2022, a woman, a resident of Donetsk region, performed combat missions as part of the DNR and participated in repressions in the occupied territories of Kherson region.

In August of the same year, together with the military of the Russian armed forces, she broke into the private house of a local family, where she forced the owner to go outside at gunpoint and brutally tortured him, inflicting numerous blows to the head.

The attacker then entered the room where the man's wife and two small children were staying and, putting a gun to the infant's head, threatened to kill and arrest the entire family. The victim was later taken to a building seized by the occupiers in the village of Pryozerne, Kherson district, where he was illegally detained and subjected to severe physical and psychological pressure.

Law enforcement officers have submitted to the court an indictment against a Ukrainian citizen who participated in an illegal armed group of the Donetsk People's Republic on charges of treason and cruel treatment of civilians under Part 2 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The Russian military will also be tried for torturing a woman in Mykolaiv region. During the occupation of the Snihuriv community, he and other invaders kidnapped a 44-year-old woman and tortured her to find out the whereabouts of her son, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the police of Mykolaiv region, the torturer turned out to be the head of intelligence of the 2nd Howitzer Self-Propelled Artillery Division of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Cossack Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.
