Kherson region: SBU investigates activities of judge serving Kremlin

In the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, the Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to a person who performs the functions of a "judge" under the laws of the Russian Federation.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the suspect is a former judge of the illegitimate Kyiv District Court of Simferopol. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, he actively cooperated with the occupation authorities, performing tasks aimed at persecuting Ukrainian citizens on the peninsula.

In 2023, this person began a "career" in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, taking the position of the so-called "Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Court". In his activities, he is guided by the legislation of the aggressor state, making decisions on its behalf and prosecuting

According to the Prosecutor General's website, the SBU served a notice of suspicion of collaboration to Viktor Mozhaliansky, a native of Kharkiv and a judge of the occupation Kherson Regional Court.

The man was charged under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It provides for imprisonment for 12 to 15 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years and with or without confiscation of property.

An occupation judge, who had been prosecuting Ukrainians in Crimea, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea submitted to the court an indictment against two former SBU officers who, after the occupation of the peninsula, defected to Russia and began working for the Russian Federal Security Service in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. They are accused of harassing Ukrainian journalists, illegally entering homes, conducting searches, and treason.
