As a result of the massive shelling of Kherson by the occupation forces, large-scale fires broke out. Mostly residential areas of the city, including apartment buildings, private houses, outbuildings, garages and cars, were attacked.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, rescuers recorded 12 fires, and all fires were quickly localized. While working at the scene of the tragedy, the rescuers unblocked three people from the damaged houses.

Work is currently underway to restore power supply. Power engineers are making every effort to restore electricity to Kherson residents as soon as possible, despite the difficult conditions.

The Shumensky, Zhitloselishche, Tavriyskiy and Ostrov residential districts, as well as Chornobaevka, Belozerka and Komyshany settlements, remain partially de-energized. The work is ongoing and restoring electricity is a priority for the specialists.

According to Yuriy Sobolevsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, propaganda media are spreading false information about the alleged evacuation of public administration and utilities by the legitimate Ukrainian authorities.

"The media resources of the occupation administration are trying to spread the fake that the legitimate authorities in Kherson have partially evacuated public administration and utilities. As always, the hostile information is not true. We remain calm, help each other and believe in the Ukrainian Armed Forces," he said.

Sobolevsky emphasized that one should trust only verified sources of information, in particular, official reports of the military and the regional administration, because information during the war is also a weapon.

On the morning of December 20, the Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on Kherson, shelling residential areas, critical and social infrastructure. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempted to break through in the direction of Kherson, but were promptly detected and destroyed by the Armed Forces. The tense situation in the region will continue over the holidays. The head of the JFO urged residents to avoid being outside unless necessary.

As a result of intense shelling by Russian troops in Kherson region, about 60,000 subscribers were left without electricity. Damage to critical infrastructure caused power outages in the Shumensky, Zhytleselyshche, Tavriysky and Ostrovsky neighborhoods of Kherson. Residents of Bilozerka and Komyshany were also left without electricity.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Roman Mrochko asked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to help create a"protective dome" system that could protect residents and critical infrastructure in Kherson from attacks by Russian drones.
