A resident of the Kherson region was sentenced to prison for helping the occupiers. He held a senior position at the Kherson Railroad and provided railroad transportation between the occupied territories.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Evidence has established that during the occupation of Kherson in June 2022, the convict became the "first deputy director" of the state enterprise established by the Russian occupation administration, Kherson Railways. His main task was to ensure rail links between Russia, Crimea, Kherson region and other occupied regions of Ukraine.

The man organized the repair and modernization of freight cars, which were used, in particular, to transport stolen Ukrainian grain. He also conducted an inventory of the property belonging to the Odesa Railways and ensured that it was used for the needs of the occupation authorities, facilitating the integration of the occupied territories into the Russian economy.

With the support of the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the man was found guilty of aiding the aggressor state under Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The court also deprived him of the right to hold positions in state and local government, as well as to engage in activities related to the provision of public services for a period of 15 years.

Also in Kherson, the cases of four local residents who voluntarily took up leadership positions in illegal structures created by the occupation administration during the occupation were brought to court. Following the orders of the invaders, they not only led subordinate units, but also helped legitimize the occupation authorities among local residents.

Earlier, law enforcement officers exposed a collaborator who worked for the Russian invaders in a penal colony during the occupation of Kherson region. He was detained when he tried to hide in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He was served a notice of suspicion of collaboration, which provides for up to 15 years in prison.
