In Kherson, the cases against four residents of the region who voluntarily took up leadership positions in illegal structures created by the occupation administration during the temporary occupation were brought to court.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the two men are accused of collaborating with the occupiers in the field of "law enforcement." The 31-year-old suspect became the "head of the medical department" in the so-called "Department of the Penitentiary Service in Kherson region", and the 63-year-old man was appointed a "junior inspector" in the occupation "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90". Both executed the orders of the invaders, contributed to the strengthening of the occupation regime and acted in the interests of the aggressor state.

Two more defendants, according to the prosecutor's office, a 30-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, worked in the occupation structures related to emergency situations. They held senior positions in the so-called units of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kherson Oblast and the Civil Defense Service. Following the orders of the invaders, they not only managed their subordinate units but also contributed to the legitimization of the occupation authorities among local residents.

Currently, all four defendants are charged under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration). They face punishment in accordance with the current legislation.

It should be added that citizens of Ukraine who voluntarily hold a position in illegal judicial or law enforcement agencies in the temporarily occupied territory, participate in illegal armed or paramilitary groups in this territory or in the army of the aggressor state, or assist them in hostilities against the Armed Forces and other military formations, face imprisonment for 12 to 15 years. They will also be banned from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for 10 to 15 years with confiscation of property.

Recently, the SBU detained an FSB agent who was planning a terrorist attack near the shopping center in Kherson, using it as a stealth bomb. In addition, Kherson police investigators served a notice of suspicion to a Russian policeman who participated in the illegal detention of civilians during the occupation of the city. He took civilians to torture chambers where they were subjected to brutal torture.

Two residents of Kherson were also notified of suspicion of collaborating with the occupiers during the pseudo-referendum in 2022.
