More than 6,000 residents of Oleshky have been isolated with no way to escape the war and humanitarian decline. The Ukrainian authorities, together with international organizations, are preparing mechanisms for the evacuation of civilians from dangerous settlements.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

The humanitarian crisis continues in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. The most difficult situation remains in Oleshky, Hola Prystan, Stara and Nova Zburyivka, where people suffer from lack of food, water, medicine and insecurity.

According to him, the Russian occupants are actually blocking the departure of civilians and preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid.

According to available information, the population of Oleshky has decreased from almost 24 thousand to about 2 thousand people. In total, more than 6,000 people remain in the affected settlements, including about 200 children. Most of the residents are people with limited mobility who need assistance and evacuation.

Lubinets said that he had previously appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Russian Ombudsman to organize the safe departure of civilians. In response, the ICRC confirmed its readiness to facilitate the necessary measures to evacuate Ukrainians from the dangerous territory.

Work is currently underway with all relevant parties to agree on safe evacuation routes. Once the mechanisms are agreed upon, it is planned to take concrete steps to bring civilians to the government-controlled territory.

The Ukrainian side has already handed over a generalized list of people in need of assistance and evacuation to the Red Cross and is in constant communication with the organization.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the Russian occupiers are blocking the departure of the population and preventing the delivery of food, medicine and essential goods. As a result, local residents, including children and people with limited mobility, are forced to live without adequate access to food, drinking water, medical care and basic living conditions.
