Preventive emergency power outages are being used in Ukraine on the instructions of Ukrenergo.

This was reported by the press service of DTEK.

It is noted that the blackouts affect Kyiv, Kyiv region, Odesa region, Dnipro region and Donetsk region.

The Ministry of Energy also reported that due to the threat of enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure, the transmission system operator in some regions has applied schedules of emergency power outages. It is noted that these are preventive actions necessary to prevent systemic damage to equipment and maintain the operation of the power system during possible attacks.

Earlier it was reported that in early October, Ukrenergo planned to start building infrastructure to connect the first floating power plant with a capacity of 250 MW. This was stated by Oleksiy Brekht, acting chairman of the board of Ukrenergo, during an offsite meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services. At the end of September, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree, and Ukrenergo, as one of the participants in this process, began construction of the relevant infrastructure. This will provide the integrated power system of Ukraine with an additional 250 MW of capacity.

Floating stations are ships or barges equipped with power plants that generate electricity. They can use gas, liquefied natural gas, liquid fuels, etc. as fuel, delivered through pipelines or special vessels. The electricity generated by the equipment on board is transmitted to the shoreline grid for further use on land. According to the Turkish company, such a station can be installed and put into operation in just a month.
