The construction of 150 new apartments for low-income families and IDPs starts in Mykolaiv. The project includes the arrangement of shelters and preparation of housing for occupancy in accordance with international standards.

This was announced by Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department.

According to the official, Mykolaiv has resumed work on a social housing project in the Soliani neighborhood. In total, it is planned to build 150 apartments for low-income families and internally displaced persons. Currently, the city is in the process of agreeing on a project agreement with a Danish fund that will determine contractors and designers. It can be either a Ukrainian or an international company, but the main thing is that the choice remains with the Danish side.

The project has resumed after a seven-month pause caused by internal issues at the foundation. According to the plan, design will start in early 2026, and construction is expected to be completed by mid-2028. The signing of the project agreement is a key stage that will allow further work to begin with specific plans and schedules.

At the same time, the city is conducting a large-scale inventory of more than 7,000 non-privatized apartments to determine their condition and readiness for social settlement. Cooperation has been established with international organizations, including Calitas Ukraine, which is already helping to repair some apartments for IDPs. It is planned that the repair solutions will be standardized to speed up the preparation of housing for occupancy.

According to Nabatov, all apartments will remain in the municipal ownership of the city to implement the logic of social housing provided for by Ukrainian legislation. This will provide access to housing not only for low-income families and IDPs, but also for certain categories of workers, such as doctors or law enforcement officers, who move to Mykolaiv.

In addition to the housing project, the Housing and Utilities Department is also working to restore damaged buildings, build shelters, and launch a construction waste recycling plant.

Last year, Mykolaiv decided to transform the Soliani Housing Office into a structure responsible for managing and maintaining social housing. The city is facing a shortage of housing for citizens in need of better living conditions, as well as for specialists who are invited to work in Mykolaiv.

Earlier, the Center for Public Investigations reported that a residential complex for internally displaced persons is planned to be built in Mykolaiv region. More than UAH 3 billion is envisaged for the project, and new apartment buildings will be built in Pervomaisk for temporary residence of IDPs.
