After the latest Russian attacks on Odesa region, some deepwater ports were left without electricity, while others are operating only on limited generator capacity.
Also, due to damage to the railroad infrastructure, the inflow of railcars to the ports is limited, the analytical platform ASAP Agri reported, citing its own sources.
According to the analysts, the ports have to stop working due to regular alarms, so they have switched to slow, sequential loading - one ship at a time.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, Russians regularly strike at railroad energy infrastructure on the routes to Pivdennyi port, with the latest attack on December 13 knocking out power to several railroad sections, which has increased cargo travel time. To restore stable traffic to the port and terminals, the railroad deployed additional diesel locomotives, repair units repaired the damage, and used alternative routes to transport cargo.
ASAP Agri analysts emphasize that port throughput is falling at a time when Ukraine is about to reach peak export volumes.
Meanwhile, Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Community and Territorial Development, said that since the launch of the Ukrainian Sea Corridor, more than 162 million tons of cargo have been handled, including more than 98 million tons of grain, and almost 7,000 vessels have sailed through the corridor.
Odesa and Odesa region were attacked by Russian missiles and drones throughout the day on December 12, resulting in a major power and water cut-off in the city as of the morning of December 13. The attacks began on the night of December 12 and continued intermittently throughout the day on December 13, and continued uninterrupted throughout the night of December 13. Due to the lack of electricity supply, water was cut off in the city for a day. Water supply was restored in the morning of December 14. Four people were injured.
