Thanks to the evidence collected by prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Kherson region was officially found guilty of collaboration. The court confirmed his guilt under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The court sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all property. In addition, he is banned from working in government or providing public services for 15 years.

The investigation established that in September 2022, the man voluntarily became the 'deputy head of the unit' in the fake 'Skadovsk District Department of the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Service'. In this position, he managed the staff, recruited new personnel and kept track of employees' working hours. The collaborator used the resources and equipment of the captured Ukrainian fire and rescue unit to operate the occupation structure.

Since the traitor is currently hiding in the enemy-controlled territories, the sentence was passed in absentia. The term of imprisonment will start from the moment of his detention. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Earlier, under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Region Prosecutor's Office, a resident of the region was served in absentia a notice of suspicion of aiding the occupying state (Part 1 Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In August 2022, the 49-year-old suspect woman took up the position of the so-called 'director of the Kherson region's Nikolskaya School of the Belozersk Municipal District'.

In this position, the collaborator began the process of integrating the school into the Russian educational system and registered the institution in the occupation register. In particular, she searched for pedagogical and technical staff to work according to Russian standards using Russian as the official language. She confiscated all Ukrainian-language literature and textbooks, and replaced state symbols with hostile ones.
