The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent to court a case against the director of a construction company, who is charged with intentional tax evasion.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the head of the company intentionally evaded paying value added tax from August 2021 to December 2022. The director of a company engaged in the construction of high-rise residential buildings deliberately entered into the tax reports data on the alleged purchase of goods and services from a number of counterparties totaling UAH 34.5 million. However, it did not actually carry out such transactions and they were not documented.

Thus, the construction company unreasonably formed a tax credit for almost UAH 7 million, which allowed it to significantly reduce its VAT liabilities. As a result of such actions, the budget lost about UAH 7 million in value added tax. A forensic economic examination confirmed the losses in the form of unpaid tax. The woman pleaded guilty in full and compensated the losses caused to the state.

In July 2025, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region sent to court an indictment against two officials of a construction company accused of failing to pay value added tax to the state budget in the amount of more than UAH 85 million.

For five years, the defendants did not reflect income for construction work received from the Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council, the Prymorskyi District Administration of the Odesa City Council, the Dolyna Village Council of the Bolhradskyi District of Odesa Region, the Children's City Polyclinic No. 4 of Odesa City Council, the Department of Municipal Economy of Odesa City Council, and the Peresypskyi District Administration of Odesa City Council.
