The Mykolaiv City Council finally managed to pass a resolution that it had not previously supported. A former deputy suspected of corruption was expelled from the executive committee.

The decision was made at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

Mykolaiv deputies supported the changes in the executive committee. Yuriy Kormyshkin was expelled from the executive committee after he submitted his resignation.

Twenty-eight deputies voted in favor of the decision, with 9 abstentions. This vote was more successful than the previous one, when a similar issue did not receive the required number of votes. Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, who put the project to a vote, was surprised by the result.

On January 30, during the 40th session of the Mykolaiv City Council, the deputies for the third time failed to support the exclusion of former regional council deputy Yurii Kormyshkin from the executive committee. The previous attempt took place in October at the 38th session, but even then the decision did not receive the required number of votes.

In January 2024, law enforcement officers detained Kormyshkin, a former deputy of the Mykolaiv Regional Council and owner of the Southern Agricultural Export Company. After the arrest, the court imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 15 million.

According to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Kormyshkin tried to legalize property acquired by his wife. The assets in question were purchased in 2021-2022 for more than UAH 20 million. According to the investigation, as a deputy of the regional council, he covered up the true origin of these funds to make them look legitimate, i.e. legalize them. In addition, the SAPO accuses him of submitting false information in his declaration.

In response to the accusations, the former MP stated that the funds in question were a gift to his wife from her father and were duly declared. He also noted that the criminal case is based only on loan agreements and information from his cell phone, and he considers the suspicion groundless.
