The head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, said that a new power line is currently being laid in the region.

An Intent correspondent traveling in the southern part of the region saw the construction.

In particular, power line poles are currently being installed in the floodplains near the village of Mayaki. This is the 330 kV Novoodeska-Artsyz power line, which was scheduled to be built in 2022. In December 2022, the Odesa Regional Council changed the boundaries of the protected tract of local importance "Dniester Plains". In particular, the deputies withdrew 65 hectares of the tract, which pass under the 110 kV Starokazache-Kanal overhead line, allowing, according to the authors of the project, to convert it into a double-circuit OHL 330 kV Novoodeska-Artsyz.

Instead, the territory of the Dniester Plains tract was expanded to include state-owned land plots with a total area of 822 hectares, managed by the Odesa Regional Military Administration. These lands are part of the internationally important wetland "Northern part of the Dniester Estuary" of the European Emerald Network.

As Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Power Administration, explained in an interview with Ukrinform, during the construction of the new power line - which will run through the Mayak floodplains, where there were severe fires - and the creation of a backfill for the poles, this backfill will be used to build a separate road to bypass Palanka.

"We have relieved Palanka a little bit by creating a platform for trucks, where they are checked and then transit on a separate lane. Before that, people used to stand in lines for 10 hours. It took as long to get to Izmail as it did to go abroad. The new road will not be a transit road with Moldova, it will go to Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district. The lines are being built by Ukrenergo. The road is of national importance and will be built by the Ministry. The regional budget will not be used here. So all issues are coordinated with the Cabinet of Ministers. According to old estimates, repairing 1 km of road cost 40 million hryvnias. It will be more expensive here, because it is a capital construction. But on a national scale, laying 11 km is not such a big expense, but until Ukrenergo extends the power line, the issue of the road will not be raised," said Oleh Kiper.

In August 2022, the Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that the National Energy Company Ukrenergo was planning to build a 330 kV Novoodeska-Artsyz overhead line in Odesa region.
