Children of Kherson region returned from Russia are to be paid assistance

(COLLAGE: The Gaze)

Children returned to the territory of Ukraine after deportation to Russia, Belarus or the TOT of Kherson region after February 24, 2022 will receive a one-time financial assistance.

The official website of HOVA has posted the relevant order.

According to the new decision, 78 children deported by the Russian occupiers to Russia and Belarus, as well as those who were in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, will receive a one-time financial assistance of UAH 30,000.

The financial support will be financed from the regional budget. We would like to remind you that this payment is part of a broader initiative: a pilot project has already been launched in the Kherson community to provide comprehensive support to both children who have been returned from occupation or deportation and their families.

The main goal of the project is to create a safe space where children can feel protected and gradually regain their trust. To do this, a specialist is in constant contact with each family to help solve urgent problems: from restoring documents and arranging education to providing medical and psychological support.

The first such specialist was Olena, a resident of Kherson Oblast, who went through a similar experience herself and now helps other families, demonstrating the power of resilience.

The project is responding to a large-scale problem: according to the JAC, 639 young residents of Kherson region have been returned to the government-controlled territory . The Kherson community itself is home to 12 children who have recently returned from the occupation. These boys and girls have experienced searches, interrogations, abductions, humiliation, pressure and threats, which underscores the critical need for comprehensive support for their rehabilitation.
