The government has recently introduced a one-time allowance of UAH 50,000 for children who have returned to government-controlled territory after deportation, forced displacement, or from the temporarily occupied territories.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, this assistance will allow parents or other legal representatives to create appropriate conditions for the child's reintegration and adaptation in the government-controlled territory.

"To receive the assistance, the child's legal representative must apply to the State Service of Ukraine for Children. This assistance will not be taken into account when calculating the average monthly total family income for all types of state social assistance and housing subsidies," the Ministry explained.

The Ministry of Social Policy also reminded that an individual plan is drawn up for the return of a child. It covers not only their way home, but also a range of services necessary for their successful reintegration in Ukraine. Support after return will be individualized for each child. The action plan includes three packages of assistance: short-term, medium-term and long-term. Depending on the needs, the child receives social, medical, psychological, rehabilitation, and legal services, and in the absence of a family, is placed in a family-based care. The child's family also receives the necessary support.

Recently, a program for the return and reintegration of children abducted by Russia, including orphans, was presented in Kherson. This program is being implemented as part of the Presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA. According to the occupiers themselves, from 2022 to 2024, 42 children from the Kherson region were transferred to Russian families. Intent once wrote that there are about 1.5 million children in the temporarily occupied territories, all of whom are under the threat of deportation.
